Prof. Dr. Peter J. W. Stadler is CEO and co-founder of the ARTEMIS Pharmaceuticals, a new German biotechnology company based in Cologne and Tuebingen.
He serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Exelixis Pharmaceuticals, Inc., South San Francisco, USA.
He is chairman or member of the board of various industry- or science-related organizations and is advisor to the German Federal Government.
He is a former senior executive of the Bayer AG where he held various management positions in Germany and the USA over a 20 year period until December 1997.
In 1997 he was nominated foreign member of the Royal National Academy of Medicine of Spain.
In 1996 he was named Honorary Professor for Biotechnology at the Technical Faculty of Bielefeld University, Germany.
During 1986 he worked as a visiting scientist in the Biotechnology Process Engineering Center of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the department of Dr. Daniel C. Wang.
In 1975 he received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Hamburg, Germany.
He is author of numerous publications as well as commentaries on genetic engineering and on management of innovation. He has written a book on safety in biotechnology and is co-editor of the multi-volume treatise "Biotechnology" (WILEY-VCH Verlag).
Peter J.W. Stadler is married and has two sons and one daughter.
