Dear Author,

Thank you for opening this e-mail letter, with which I want to keep our authors regularly informed about Wiley-VCH and more.

Book editorial teams – with a passion for publishing

This is a brief list of the largest meetings over the next two months where we could meet, where you can look at our books, and study and browse through them for yourself – and don't forget your author's discount when you buy our books at conferences, e.g. titles about Einstein and his work accompanying the World Year of Physics.
All dates can be found at http://www.wiley-vch.de/publish/en/service/convention/.

Congratulations!

... "And the winners are": Take another look at and browse through our 2004 international top sellers in print. (The German language bestselling list of course reads a bit differently and reflects the fact that we are the leading German (Chemistry & more) publishing house. It contains titles like Vollhardt, Alberts, Atkins, Halliday, while "Chemie rund um die Uhr/Chemistry around the clock", published together with the German Chemical Society, became no. 1.)

Wiley-VCH Top Ten international bestsellers 2004:

You can all benefit from this bestseller list, since we're offering an additional 5 % on top of your author's discount for a limited period on all the titles listed.

 1. Ebel, Hans F. / Bliefert, Claus / Russey, William E.: The Art of Scientific Writing
 2. Nicolaou, K. C. / Snyder, S. A.: Classics in Total Synthesis II
 3. Waser, Rainer (ed.): Nanoelectronics and Information Technology
 4. Fluck, Ekkehard / Heumann, Klaus G.: Periodic Table of the Elements
 5. Niemeyer, Christof M. / Mirkin, Chad A. (eds.): Nanobiotechnology
 6. Berger, Stefan / Braun, Siegmar: 200 and More NMR Experiments
 7. Schmid, Günter (ed.): Nanoparticles
 8. Höltje, Hans-Dieter / Sippl, Wolfgang / Rognan, Didier / Folkers, Gerd: Molecular Modeling
 9. Krauss, Gerhard: Biochemistry of Signal Transduction and Regulation
10. Bommarius, Andreas Sebastian / Riebel, Bettina R.: Biocatalysis

As in the Olympics, the top three authors will soon receive a nice keepsake.

It is important to mention here that more and more sales are taking place in Asia, especially in China. This trend is accompanied by the fact that an increasing number of titles also appear in Chinese and Korean translations – I recently saw many blue and white book covers while I was visiting institutes in Shanghai.

Beyond science: your benefit

Wiley-VCH is an integrated part of the truly global publishing group John Wiley & Sons, soon to be celebrating its 200th(!) birthday.

Edgar Allan Poe, Hans Christian Andersen and Charles Dickens were among the first authors and today, Frommer's travel guides, Betty Crocker's cookbooks and many more well-known book titles are all published by Wiley.

I've selected some of these and am offering them at an additional 5 % author's discount (for a limited period since your author's discount in general only covers titles from the company you publish with):

* Baborsky, M. S.: Twentieth Century Architecture, ISBN 0-470-85878-8
* McFarlan, B.: Drop the Pink Elephant, ISBN 1-84112-637-3
* Morio, A.: Warren Buffet, ISBN 0-470-82153-1
* Balfour, A. / Shiling, Z.: Shanghai, ISBN 0-471-87733-6

Last but not least...

With snapshots from our recent New Year's concert in our atrium I'd like to end this first letter. I hope you found it concise and will open the next one, too. Any feedback is more than welcome: What would you most like to hear from me, or from anybody else at Wiley-VCH? And all feedback will be honored.
