Cover: A simple and inexpensive room-temperature synthesis method has been used to create the large-area silicon nanowire array featured on the cover without the use of templates. The electroless metal deposition is demonstrated and a synthesis mechnism is proposed in the report by Zhu and co-workers on page 127.
