Lucas FM da Silva is Full Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). He obtained his PhD in structural adhesive bonding of composites from the University of Bristol (United Kingdom) in 2004 and Aggregation from FEUP in 2011.
He leads the Advanced Joining Processes Unit (AJPU) of the Institute of Science and Innovation in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering (INEGI), studying welded joints, joints by plastic deformation and adhesively bonded joints. He published 415 articles from the Web of Science, 43 books and 59 international book chapters. His works were cited 15085 times and correspond to an h index of 65 (SCOPUS, 24/1/2023). He is editor-in-chief of The Journal of Adhesion, Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part L: Journal of Materials: Design and Applications (Sage) and five other journals. He organizes international conferences on joining technologies, materials and structures, manufacturing, machine design and education.
Reza Beygi, the holder of PhD in Materials Science and Engineering form Sharif University of Technology, Iran, was assistant professor since 2014 at Arak university, Iran and currently is a principal investigator at Institute of Science and Innovation in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (INEGI), Portugal.
-His activities focus on joining of dissimilar materials by advanced joining processes. Microstructural evolution during joining and its correlation with the process and joint performance are his main activities. He has published more than 50 papers in this area and his works were cited 586 times and correspond to an h index of 16. He has also published a book on the simulation of the welding. He is the editor of the Journal of Advanced Joining Processes, Elsevier. He has supervised more than 25 MSc students in the area of welding.
Eduardo André de Sousa Marques is an Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) and investigator in the Advanced Joining Processes Unit of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Management (INEGI). He obtained his PhD in structural adhesive bonding for aerospace applications at FEUP in 2016.
His research activity focuses on mechanical characterization, numerical modelling, and experimental testing of the mechanical behaviour of structural joints, with special attention to the effect of high strain rates, extreme temperature and high relative humidity on the behaviour of various materials and bonded structures. He has published over 140 Web of Science research articles and authored multiple books in the field of joining and material science.
Ricardo J. C. Carbas is currently a post-doctoral researcher in the Institute of Science and Innovation in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. He obtained his PhD in adhesively bonded functionally graded joints from Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto in 2013. He published 92 articles as author and his works were cited 2211 times and correspond to an h index of 23.
He is involved in the organization of conferences on materials and adhesive bonding: Luso-Brazilian Adhesion Conference, International Conference on Materials Design and Applications and Advanced Joining Processes. He is editorial board member of the `Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part L: Journal of Materials: Design and Applications? and `Journal of Advanced Joining Processes´. It has six patents mainly on production methods and testing of structural adhesive bonds. He does consult work for national (e.g. Bosch, Amtrol) and international (e.g. Nagase Chemtex, John Deere, etc.) companies.
