Before the book was translated Professor Rousseau thoroughly revised his manuscript, adding a chapter on computational crystallography. It provides an introduction to the basic principles of geometric crystallography via the study of lattices, symmetry operations and the construction of point and space groups. Stereographic projection is used to help students with the visualization of crystal formations in real space. The second part is devoted to x-ray crystallography covering the generation of x-rays, their properties, x-ray diffraction and the uses of neutron and electron diffraction for comparing different materials.
